Life can be lived tangled up in the past Like a strand of rusty old barbed wire That you can't quite break free of Without a bloody scratch and a poke or two Or one can live life in the future Head in the clouds always hoping For the ship that never quite comes in Or the horse you bet on always breaks down One, can, however, choose to live in the present Shake off the barbs and clean their wounds Find satisfaction in the smile of others And success in each small victory of self
