we should not take lightly what we may mean to another

You meant something to me

I guess you didn’t know

I looked forward to your smile

And the moments we shared

You meant something to me

Your friendship was dear

You say that you’ll visit, but you never do

“Cause I did not mean the same to you

You meant something to me

Thank you for that

You meant something to me

And I miss you so

This is very well written. You are an amazing writer yourself. I know how you feel. We all miss someone, somewhere along the line that doesn't miss us in return.

Wow! This is super. And scary cause we do forget or we don't realize it--the impact we have on others. It's so easy to hurt, disappoint. Cheers

Karen, there's many times in our lives where a person will bring us happiness, joy, an uplifting spirit, but they fade in the darkness of time and leave us feeling empty and wondering why we never hear from them. I believe some people get afraid when they feel someone is getting to close to them and they automatically back-off. This is a good writing.

Yes, Karen, sometimes friendship is not all that we perceive. Sometimes, one cannot give as much as the other. The reason, that is just the way it was meant to be.

I understand this poem, sometimes we never get the same wanting and needing back from a relationship and it does hurt. Cause I did not mean the same to you. Great write.

It is very heart wrenching when two do not love or care on the same level. The sense of wanting it to be different and the sense of why can't it be are often painful to say the least. You captured this topic well.
