i know this sounds bitter, and sometimes I just let myself feel it

Footfalls Dance

Like me, you came from humble beginnings,

Farm girls both, running wild and untamed.

Unlike me you were blessed with natural beauty,

Your marriage became your saving grace.

Your callous words, they cut me to my core,

They add strife to my efforts to live a life of worth.

You judge now because your status is lofty,

But this has not always been the case.

I just can’t bear to hear right now,

How great and charmed your life is,

The details of your new beachfront condo,

And the new additions to family and home.

Like my nose needs to be rubbed in all I don’t have,

And that I need to see the reflection of my futile life labors;

With “Not good enough” echoing in my soul,

As my footfalls dance on the dusty path of my own life.

She may have material things , but who has the heart enriched by the trials and tribulations of what they have lived and learned.. Does she have the gifts you so eleoquently share with others? Sometimes people build up their own self esteem to cover up what is really happening . Blessings to you....M

Those who have true status in life need not brag about it. Your friend is still on the farm in her heart and needs the kudos of her own reminder of where she has journeyed from and to.

Very sad but well written. Oh if only everyone was like you and had a caring heart and so much to offer this would be a better world. Hang in there my friend for you have riches overflowing. LOve, Bonnie

My heart ached when I read this, not only for you but for myself. Life is not always fair and for some of us although we struggled our whole lifes to get ahead only find ourselves lost at sea on a sinking ship of bills and pressures. I have felt the same when people tell me of their trips, their new cars, their fancy restaurants and concert openings and cringe with each "new" they decide to throw into the conversation and yet have to fake a smile in my voice. Thank you for speaking out for those of us who have given our best to life but who fate still decided to shit on.

Good writing. Is she necessary in your life?
I wish you contentment in dealing with her.

Karen, first I want to tell you that I love how you have written this...with so much feeling...because YOU have felt it...and I think if we're honest...we all have felt this way from time to time...including that "perfect" friend with the "charmed" life, for I've learned, when a person brags and boasts...it's a way to cover up unhappiness...just as it is when someone hurts you for no reason. Wonderful writing.

Karen,

Boy, can I relate to this. I feel inadequate compared to others - but God loves me ANYWAY. Be the best you, you can be - fame and riches don't buy happiness. (But to have enough money to pay bills and get a few things WOULD be nice ...) Sigh. Strongly penned, well done.

((((HUGS)))), love and prayer, Karla.
