She Wants to Wear a Pretty Dress

this poem is for my sister as she fights the battle of her life with leukemia

She Wants to Wear a Pretty Dress

She wants to wear a pretty dress again,

She wants to plant flowers in the dirt.

She wants to feel the wet of her newborn foals,

As she gently delivers them into this world.

She wants to dance with her true love again,

With grace and energy to spare.

She wants to grow her hair long again,

And be done with the hats, caps and wigs.

She wants to carry herself with the grace,

Of the Paris model she once was,

She wants to hear birds, smell flowers and see sunsets,

She wants all of this and more.

So she will enter into the hell of this treatment,

On the forty-sixth year to the day of her birth,

Ever grateful that research and other’s stories,

Have enabled her to have a chance to live on.

I am sure that all of our thoughts and prayers here on the den will be going out to your sis while she undergoes her treatment and I hope that when she does again wear that pretty dress we will see her in it under a poem titled "Today She Wore a Pretty DRess"

I think most of us want to live forever. And we're taught to believe in this materialistic age that there is no heaven or hell, no afterlife, that pyschic people are charlatans, that spiritualism is hokum, that angels don't exist.

What does your heart tell? asked Aragon of Gandalf in Lord of The Rings.
"Yes, he's alive."

Yes, life goes on in another dimension. The cloths of heaven are beautiful to wear!

A very good story of agony, yet hope. Beautiful write. Reading comments from other people, I didn't realize this was your sister. I'm so sorry.

Wanting gives us strength to embrace the minutes of another day. Pride makes us too proud to give up. Gratefulness is our thanks to God and are the prayers that keep us believing that all will be well. I pray that the person you are speaking of will find strength and comfort as she goes through her treatments. (I went through 33 radiation treatments and my strength faltered all along the way, but prayer and my wish to heal kept me going.)

Oh Karen is this for your lovely friend? What a tribute to women out there that are going though this nightmare. You touched many hearts with this extraordinary write that says so much. Love and hugs, Bonnie
