City Rain

At night on the city sidewalks,

Of the streets of historic Philadelphia,

Umbrellas bob up and down,

As pedestrians rush to and fro.

The sound of the moving vehicles,

As they plow through puddles intrigues me.

Each throws water behind to the following car,

And windshield wipers slap a rhythm back and forth.

It is delightful to me,

This December rain,

With all of the sounds and sights of the city,

So unfamiliar to me in my country life.

The sounds of the city to the out-of-towner are either exciting and vibrant or just noise pollution. I think I know where you stand, Karen. Eyes and ears a-popping at the December scene in Philly.

Have a great Christmas under your umbrella! :-)

Yes, I love rain! This reminds me of when an ex-boyfriend and i got caught in a huge rainstorm crossing a bridge across the River Seine in Paris to go to the Louvre-glorious!! Just like you little poem, a delightful snippet.

I like the way you take us for a visit to the city with you. I think no matter how much we love the place we chose to live in or which chose us, it is still nice to get away now and then to experience other peoples worlds. Well done Karen as always.

Karen, If only we had rain instead of snow here in Connecticut. Mother Nature has thrown 14" of snow in my area during the past three days. Finally today the sun is shining!

Much love, light and peace to you during this holiday season.
