Still in search of myself,
Attempting to find my way;
Not someone else’s' life,
Observed by me with envy and wanting.
I'm not so lost as I was yesterday,
And certainly I have acquired some wisdom,
With each scraped knee,
And every bruise of my spirit.
I don't want to be the me I imagine,
In the photos and the memories of other's lives.
I don't want to want so much what another has,
And copy their lives for an imagined bit of happy.
I don't want to lurk in the guilt or the fear,
That I will be found lacking;
Less than I desire to be.
But A me designed in individuality,
A finding of me and of my own memories made,
Of that which I myself have loved.
We learn as we grow older in years and experience that the world that we once envisioned is not as great as we believed it to be back when we were young. LOvely expression of life through the eyes of a lady who has lived...both the good and the bad.
"Search for me" gives a suggestion that we are part of a puzzle, a little insignificant piece but a important one to fulfill the whole.

great poem to ponder Karen, I guess we are bits and pieces of all our ancesters and family, sharing looks and traits, even inherited diseases. My nephew blames his father and other family members for his crazy genes, I told him it wouldn't stand up in court if he does something stupid. We are a mixture of good and bad, happy and sad and make no mistake we have to chose wisely and strongly which traits will dominate. I have two nephews that are bad seeds. Thanks for this great poem, now you still got me wondering, hugs my dear poetess
