Your Oversized Shirt

I love you; have been in love with you.

Perhaps a piece of me always has been,

In love with you.

I know this because of,

The way I still feel,

In your worn and oversized shirt,

With its tail and front sloping low,

And the upward cut of the fabric,

That offered up my thighs,

As your hands ran up my leg.

And because of the way I feel,

When I remember saying,

“Be soft, and gentle, and slow”,

And you were.

And I lay there and let the throes of passion,

Wash over me like the waters of a summer brook,

Long, and peaceful, and lingering.

And I miss you, for this has been a reflection,

On how it was when we were each other’s,

And what it was like to not be alone,

As I lay here wrapped in your oversized shirt.

A tender remembrance of good times, and the oversized shirt, I'M SURE, has brothers and sisters out there in the AD community chest of drawers.

This is so lovely and soft, old memories rekindled but somthing warm soft and familiar. It is good when the love is remembered but not the reasons for drifting apart.

A girl wearing nothing but an oversize shirt is a though to conceal to the rest of the world as our lips betray us by showing the shadow of a smile!

One of, if not the, best poem I have read from you, Karen. This, my dear is classic poetry which can stand up to any poet's work be they alive or the ghosts of poetry past. Wonderful.

Karen, this is so beautiful...so romantic...and so filled with longing...it almost feels like a beginning of a book. I know I've told you this before, but I love the way you write...simply...with words from your heart...never syrupy...just real...very real.
