In a Childhood She Doesn't Remember
She took his ashes in her hand,
Made a fist and upon kissing it, said,
"Bye dad, I love you."
She then slowly relaxed her hand,
Letting him sift gently through her fingers.
So he is there 'neath the great old maple,
Where he himself had once gathered sap,
O'er many a spring in the days of his youth,
In a childhood she doesn't remember.

This one made me cry ... powerfully, poignantly penned. Well done.
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
He was a maple, I am a oak, wonder if the difference lies in the shadows we gave in a string of hot summers.
