Poetry by Liana Margiva

It was so many days ago
Life’s waters under bridge have flown
Since I was young and filled my heart
With you, who my days used to fill
With words of love and passion’s thrill.

You uttered them amidst the quiet,
When flowers bloomed,
When leaves were dying,
When snowflakes’ slow and silent fall
Foreboded Winter’s glacial ball.

Your eyes were filled with love’s hot flame,
Your lips would tremble when my name
They whispered like some sacred truth
In wishful dreams of distant youth!

Oh, how I yearned in days agone
In youth forgotten and forlorn
For glimpse of love, for tiny spark
From fire that consumed my heart!

I carried through the mist of years
The feel of touch and primal fear
When my flesh caught the passion’s fire
Ignited by your wild desire.

Alas, it was but lovely dream.
We never walked above the stream,
You never wiped my teary eyes,
Inside the heart that loved you once
Those tears turned to frigid ice.

The flowers’ bloom has turned to sod,
The autumn leaves fell down to rot,
The soulless snowflakes’ galore
Became the waves that lick the shore.

The silence never heard you speak
Your lips were sealed. My fate was bleak.
And you forever was replaced
By solitude’s atrocious face.

So, don’t you cry those bitter tears,
They carry not my angst and fears!
Don’t dare bemoan your bitter fate,
You never carried love’s hard weight.

You were the chosen one by fate
To always have with love a date.
Myself, I was destined for life
For love to carry on a strife.

Liana, love is the greatest joy. But a heart stolen under the pretext of love is the greatest sadness a heart can endure. Nothing
is capable of washing the pain away. Your words are haunting and poignant as you capture that fact that time will not erase the pain. in your masterful verse. I wish you love and peace my dear friend. Jon Michael

Reading your beautiful words left me with a haunting sadness...my favorite verse:

The silence never heard you speak
Your lips were sealed. My fate was bleak.
And you forever was replaced
By solitude’s atrocious face.

a powerfully unrequited emotion imbues this poignant insight, dear Liana. Life gives us so many lessons that stretch out the substance of our hearts. This work embodies the challenges of the here and now with a spirit of the classics in structure, rhyme, and gist. Beautifully done...
"A mighty pain to love it is,
And 'tis a pain that pain to miss;
But of all pains, the greatest pain
It is to love, but love in vain."

Hurtful poem, Liana, as so many loves are cast into the winds and given freedom when freedom wasn't what was needed. A passionate piece of writing that told of the joy and the dark that displaced that joy. I agree with D Johnson, that verse IS the poem.

Wonderful poem...I love this verse the most:

You never carried love’s hard weight."
