"We Would See Jesus"

On an old wooden pulpit in the front of the church,
a worn little sign still stands;
'Twas set in its place with an eager face,
and fastened with faithful hands.
'Twas the prayer of each one who entered here,
seeking a touch from the Lord;
of the lost and the weak,
the downtrodden, the meek;
each hungering for God's Word.

"We would see Jesus,"  it's earnest plea;
for Jesus is all that will do.
No thoughts of mere man,
though eloquent, can
heal hearts --
unless He speaks through you.

Today 'midst the turmoil
of a world gone mad,
still the seekers approach
in their need.
For life-giving water
to quench their souls' thirst,
"Please, We would see Jesus," they plead.
 

"But I,
when I am lifted up from the earth,
will draw all men to myself."
