Maple Leaf Boarding Home was a big old estate in Shamokin, turned into a home for the elderly. This is for men and women who have been uprooted from their homes and all that is familiar to them to live in the Boarding Homes, Assisted Living Homes and Nursing Homes scattered across America.
I'll Keep On Shining!
When "Maple Leaf" is my only home, and meals are never eaten alone, When my "mansion" is just one room, I'll not become a purveyor of gloom -- I'll lift my heart up to my Lord, and keep believing in His Word; I'll trust in Him, tho' dark the day, and to my neighbor I will say, I'll keep on shining for Jesus!
My trials here may seem so bad; sometimes I long for what I had, but Jesus never forsakes His own; He's leading me to that Heavenly home! Whatever suffering I must bear, He lightens my load with tender care. My Strength; my Light; my Life is He, and to Him I will faithful be -- I'll keep on shining for Jesus!
Of my life, Jesus, be a part, ever shining in my heart; and as Your love illumines me, a light for others I will be. I can offer a word of cheer, share a heartache, dry a tear; lend a hand or say a prayer; God's light is needed everywhere! I'll keep on shining for Jesus!

I just recently laid to rest my Grandmother 5/30/07. May God the Father and Jesus Christ The Son receive her into The Glorious Kingdom of Heaven.
We believe that there was a GROSS violation in practices at the home she was in, and are now investigating. However this can never bring her back AND in ALL HONESTY I wouldn't want to! (could you imagine...after seeing GLORY, returning to this hell hole that we've made?)
I was richly Blessed with the opportunity to preform the service. And invite you to enjoy it also. It is located in my book section and is full of BLESSINGS!!! (For it is Written: WE should REJOICE when a fellow believer enters THE KINGDOM OF GOD!)Paraphrased).
I read your words of TRUTH (in your bio), and your BEATIFIUL, HEART WARMING poem of WELCOME and ACCEPTANCE into your LIFE that you so LOVINGLY do!!!
I only mourn the passing of others in these respects:
1.If the person was not SAVED!!!
2.If I LOVED that person Greatly. I will mourn for a given time. Then REJOICE! (such as in my GRANDmothers case).
3.If it is an elder of the body of CHRIST. Because it means the days are growing DARKER!!! Because a TRIED and TRUE BELIEVER's LIGHT has left this world!!! But only for a given time. Then I will turn my eyes toward HEAVEN and ask HOW LONG O LORD???
I leave you with a poem that you have helped inspire...

As "you" SHIMMER into the night
of ever increasing darker days
May THE HOLY SPIRIT continue to guide you
SHINNING forth OUR HEAVENLY FATHERS WAYS

Your faith Shines in Jesus with him present. I work with elderly in these kinds of living arrangements they are blessings to me. The dignity, they keep makes them lessons for us all. A blessing to read this one for me today Connie!

Well written and says a lot about finding strength in Jesus for you. As far as some of these "homes" I've know a few people who have apartments in them and they are quite nice. Can't pick your neighbors but they seem to enjoy so much more of the community living. Lady J
Connie, this is sad but you've capture a great inspirational poem in this writing. These people, I'm sure, are aware there is someone greater there to give them hope, faith and love; even if, they are not in their own homes. Aging is hard to face regardless of who it is, but to be separated from your surroundings makes life more trying. Thanks for sharing.
