Dear Mr. President,

I'd like a word with you.
I want to thank you, Sir, for the job you've
tried to do.

It has to bring you sadness when nay-sayers
offer scorn,
when the very folks you're working for decry
that you were born.
but I think being President, as each citizen
should know,
takes more than one man's strength as
world tensions grow.
The foes of our dear native land would
crush her in defeat
if America the Beautiful would crumple
and retreat.
One man cannot resolve the problems
stirring in the land,
or know a quick solution for the economy
to stand.

But if all patriots would join and stand beside
you, Sir,
I think we'd have a better chance all turmoil
to deter.
If, instead of trying to destroy and vilify
your name,
each citizen would pray for you, just think
of all we'd gain!
The bitterness, the envy, vindictiveness
and hate,
when bathed in earnest, honest prayer, would
surely dissipate;
and God would guide imperfect man and
show him the best way.
Our President would lead with wisdom if
everyone would pray.

So, Mr. President, I'm writing to tell
you I will pray.
I'm only one, but I believe God hears my
prayer today;
and I know that there are others who don't
want you to fail.
If enough of us unite in prayer, I know
victory will prevail.

"Here are my directions. Pray much for others;
plead for God's mercy upon them; give thanks
for all He is going to do for them.
Pray in this way for kings and all others who are
in authority over us, or are in places of high
responsibility, so that we can live in peace and
quietness, spending our time in godly living
and thinking much about the Lord."
