Three men stand out in the Old Testament as men who entered new lands: Joseph, Daniel and Joshua.
          Joseph, sent in hatred by his brothers, later could tell them: "You thought evil against me, BUT GOD meant it unto good, to save many people alive." (Genesis 50:20)
          Daniel was takn as a captive, just a youth, but in that land, through Daniel, God revealed Himself to kings.  (Daniel 2:47,  4:37,  6:20)
          To Joshua, who replaced Moses as leader of the Israelites, God promised His continual presence and His power to possess the Land He had promised to them.  (Joshua 1:1-9)

           Unlike Joshua, we do not always possess the land in which He places us.  But the spiritual victory is ours when we go forward under the same "marching orders" he received in the book of Joshua,
chapter 1:1-9.  "for the Lord thy God is with thee
wherever thou goest."

And now the poem, originally written for "Stan"

New land!  Again, He gives me new land!
Can it mean that I have pleased Him in the old?
I only trusted Him, and let Him lead me;
the wealth I sought was just His words of gold.

I merely followed where He bid me enter,
and spoke of Him to those He sent my way.
When doubts arose, I shared them not with children,
but sought what older, wiser men would say.

The hours I spent with Him were hidden treasure;
jewels that sparkled in the sifting sand.
My needs were well-supplied throughout the journey;
He carried all my burdens in His hand.

Sometimes I think there's no rest for the weary;
But yes, I know, refreshment He will bring,
and strength enough to see me through the journey,
and food, and shelter underneath His wing.

I cannot shirk the task to which He sends me;
He's taught me He's the Master of design.
With peace, with joy,
with His strong arms around me,
the new land beckons me - His land and mine!

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart,
and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways, acknowledge Him,
and He will direct thy paths."
