Mother's Reward

May is finally here, and with it Mothers' Day. I'm resurrecting a few from 1975, the year my mother died suddenly on the day before Mothers' Day. When we were younger, she taught us to play the "Glad Game." There is always something to be glad about, she'd tell us. Yet she struggled with depression, until she got to the point where she couldn't find much to be glad about.

Mother's Reward
(May, 1975)

Giving, always giving--
this was our sweet one's way-
doing things for others
as she went along life's way.

She cared so deeply for us,
our burdens all she bore.
Now she's given them to Jesus:
she'll be burdened nevermore!

Thank You, Lord, for Mother--
for the years we shared her love.
Thank You for wanting Mother
to be safe with You above.

We tried our best to help her,
but You knew what to do.
You gave her peace and happiness
when You took her home with You.

All one has to do, is to look upon YOU, Connie,
to understand what a great mother you had.

I'm deeply sorry for the hard times you must have shared with her
throughout the depression. But praise GOD, your memories are sweet.

This is a lovely tribute.. I'm sure she is smiling with Jesus - and expressing her desire for YOU to have a Happy Mother's Day now!
