The White Handkerchief

There's a very special lady who lives many miles away. I've never even seen her, though I hope we'll meet someday......."Thank You, Lord, for my friend Rhonda Galizia!"

 THE WHITE HANDKERCHIEF

I got a Christmas card this year
From a very special friend,
With a little note explaining
Why a hanky she did send............

She said, “Here’s a little gift, my friend,
Sent straight to you from me.
It’s like those cloths in the Book of Acts;
God blessed them, don’t you see?
As I held to this handkerchief,
I was praying just for you!”
(And I sensed that she’d been weeping
As she held that hanky, too.)

There was something quite intriguing
In the words I read that day
And it was a pretty hanky,
But I tucked it clean away;
And I thought but little of it
For it seemed to me so odd
Till a day when I was hurting,
Feeling far away from God........

Gathered up the Christmas treasures --
It was time to store them now.
There were cards all piled together,
And I thought of hers somehow.
I pulled out the linen hanky,
White-on-white, so pure and clean.
It seemed to glow with love and caring,
Filled with fervent prayers unseen.

As I held it to my bosom,
I began to understand:
God was watching as she prayed --
He held my burdens in His hand.
I don’t question how my Lord works --
He is God of night and day --
But when I held her tear-bathed hanky,
My own tears were washed away.

Oh, Connie-Girl... now I need a new hanky for myself. I am overwhelmed by your lovingkindness. xoxox

While it is true we have never met in person, we know each other very well, nonetheless, and are bonded, in Spirit. How I praise the LORD for that capability, Sister - as you are a Genuine Treasure to me, and I do not take that lightly.

How beautifully and skillfully your pen has turned one small deed into a multitude of blessing! HALLELUJAH, OUR LORD IS MAGNIFIED!

I want you to know, my Joe will be very touched by this poem, too, Connie, as he has witnessed me going before the LORD a thousand times or more.. crying out for His anointing to rest upon the handkerchiefs, napkins or scarves of those to whom He has quickened my heart to send them to.

I am honored to know your tears mingled with my own.. Jesus wept.

THANK YOU FOR THIS PRECIOUS GIFT, CONNIE. I PRAY EVERYONE WHO READS IT IS ALSO BLESSED!

Love always, Rhonnie

It is always wonderful to have Christian friends; your meaningful words were like a sweet balm to my heart. Treasure your friend and the lovely hanky she sent you for good a precious friend like yours is hard to find.

It's true. Sorrows are halved when shared. Your friend just shared them in advance. Thank you Connie.

Just a funny aside: I just "SHARED" this with Rhonda and her husband. The usual note came up, but it sure struck me funny to see: "You have shared The White Handkerchief with your friends." Heaven forbid! My hankies are only used by me, myself and I!
