This one has a sad feel. What I like about it is that you seem in tune spiritually with whoever is playing the sad song. You say so much with these lines! Excellent work:) Blessings in 2008!

I love this gentle approach to what can often be assumed to be the rather bold and brassy section of the orchestra. Yet, as my son used to play trumpet, I know just how soulful and moving brass can be - as Andy said below, in fact. Thank you for this mind-tingling write. Kate xx
Wonderful poem, Elizabeth. I have always loved the sound of brass, and I think the trumpet is terribly underrated. I played it in junior high and did not begin to do it justice. Enjoyed this very much!

Jazz as a way of making sorrow a friend of sorts. Close your eyes and hear the sadness yet sway with the beat of the lost heart. Very well written Liz. I loved it!

the way you tell this i can hear the horn section and i can hear the ladies singing the blues... gah... i want to be one of them when i grow up... the way they flirt with the trumpet... just magic.
right from the outset this piece is destined to be something.
something in the use of mournful in such a beautiful way dictates that not all mourning is a hideous thing...
sometimes its okay to feel surrounded by blue
