December 25
Though this message comes late in the night
Its reason is timely in the crescent moonlight
Our soldiers are huddled in Kevlar and sand fleas
Gripped with loneliness far from safety
Their companion, their weapon held very tight
To ward off danger from the surrounding fight
Shadows that pass, friend or foe?
With fear in their hearts they pray for home
Of loved ones missed as dawn breaks the night
For now it is Christmas and the son is the light
May peace break out for a moment today
And everyone’s heart be filled with his grace
So soldiers the world over can put their guns down
And take a deep breath in the calm that surrounds
The birth of our Lord should be significant in our lives
And shed some light on our violent strife
Lots of love,
Sandie May :o)
And everyone’s heart be filled with his grace
So soldiers the world over can put their guns down
Would that it be so, Liz. A timely and meaningful message. Love and peace,
Regis
Be well,

Nice tribute...
(((HUGS))), much love, and Merry Christmas, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :(
This powerful poem got me with two lines:
"Their companion, their weapon held very tight,
To ward off danger from the surrounding fight...."
Such lonely existance. And yet, they go, willingly. As a Veteran, I thank you for remembering the sacrifices, the time spent far from home, away from loved ones, and sometimes, the ultimate price of laying down their lives. Well done.
(((HUGS))), love and Merry Christmas, Karla.
