I've been struggling again...

Meltdown

Soemtimes I feel unworthy of getting out of bed
Medications, therapy; still dead in the head
Sometimes so unworthy I should be on the floor
…slither on out the door

I belong to the sisterhood of lalaland
A rather morose nonexistent band
All trying to figure out how our minds
Made a u-turn in our heads
Enveloped our souls in cold
Waiting for the meltdown to implode

This poem is written extremely well, but besides that, and probably more importantly, it makes all of us remember when we felt like this. I know with my myriad of health problems that I have felt just the same. This is fantastic writing.

This sounds very acute, Liz, and I'm so sorry that it's this way for you right now. It IS a very great sense of isolation when the walls crowd in like this, but please hold fast to the reality that you are NOT alone and speak articulately for many of us who know and understand to a greater or lesser degree the anguish of this sense of futility. Seems to accompany a creative mind and spirit, especially when going through a fallow phase or period of frustration. You HAVE got out of bed most worthily and lucidly in the body of this poem! Keep on keeping on... counting the hairs on the palms of your hands, if necessary! :))

Liz,

Yes, so very sorry - I pray all will be well!

I am sorry, Elizabeth... I understand that funk as I was having one of my own for a couple of weeks. Things will get better as you keep getting out of bed and putting one foot in front of the other. Remember that you are of worth and you do matter!

Elizabeth, your poem hurts in the same way you are hurting. I hope you can find a release from these bad times you are having. All the best to you.
