I grew up going tenting
I was determined he'd
Do that, too
I bought a tent
We set it up
Just one thing
Left to do
It began to rain
Our enthusiasm waned
But no, we were
Going to try
Don't touch the
Sides of the tent
Was what we had
To do or be wet, not dry
We lay upon our mat
So bumpy with poly foam
It wasn't what we were used to
But for that night
It was our home
The rain was coming down down down
But we just rolled around
The pitter patter putter pop
Was merely musical soothing sound
The night passed by
And we survived
Our tenting escapade
"The next time," he said
"Let's bring out
The TV" to which I rolled my eyes
"You're missing the whole
Point," I said
"No, I'm not" he replied
"The TV would make
It lots more fun"
Oh well, at least I tried...
Cute write, Lynn! Enjoyed this 'un; thanks for the sharing!

Use to camp out a lot growing up. I was in a tent sleeping on a mat on the ground. I laid my glasses by my bed, a big storm came up, I jumped in the camper with every one else. Looked for my glasses that morning, and they were at the bottom of the hill almost in the lake.
Your hubby don't need that TV. That's the best time ever for you and him to talk. Written very well Lynn.
Love ya cuzz I do........
Let this coming of age story of a boy named Bean take you back to a simple time. Set in a small southern town in the 1960's, encircled by a river and gleaming white cotton fields.
