To see Mama look so sad, Her eyes so far, so distant and even mad.
It was manic depression and bi-polar which took away the eyes, once so glad.
For years the sickness had posessed her mind. No mental health doctor had seen her to give us a clue or a sign.
The leukemia had to be painful too. She did not allow the doctor to treat her or tell us of her plight as she was dying.
How can we help when we don't know.
It's until she had passed we learned to manage the pain in our own hearts as we continued to grow.
We were angry with the doctor who could not violate doctor- patient priviledged information.
We do know she had earned herself a crown, a walk on golden streets, a seat at Jesus feet and a mansion.
She suffered, she thought, to keep us from suffering. I suffered with her when I looked into her empty eyes.
I loved her so.

"Empty Eyes"
Oh so beautiful Louisa.
I know the pain will always be there when we feel like we could have helped if we only knew. Surely your Mother knows you would have done all that you could, if you did know. Often times one may not want the love ones to know as their own personal way to not infringe upon another's life. If they only knew how much they really are one's life, it would all be different.
Thank you for sharing your heart rendering of such great, powerful, and Godly love you still possess for your Mother. All the best to you always.
Sincerely,
Gwendolyn
