I missed out on a lot of the girlie things when I was growing up. I was larger than the girls my age...so I hung out with the guys and frazzeled their nerved. I must not have changed much. I have a nack of still working the nerves.
Why I hung out with the boys,
I don't know.
Maybe it was the fixin' and
racing the cars.
Or perhaps playing chicken:
you know, who will yield first.
All I know is it sure was fun
to see those guys run in the ditch.
I was just as afraid as they were,
but they could'nt hit a girl.
Soon they caught on to my game
and Mama stopped me from playing.
She said that I had gotten too grown
up to play the big boy's games.
She gave me another assignment.
And this time I was raising chickens.
I just don't understand why today men
say to me, "you drive like a man".
It must be in the knowing how to handle
that steering wheel.
