Wrap me in winter
As in a cocoon
Engulf me in darkness
Warm like a womb

Give me gray skies
A cold hollow gale
Bare twisted trees
It all tells the tale

Of emptiness, longing
Of things dead and done
That once had such promise
In a field in the sun

Though a season away
Such a lifetime ago!
Truly, it’s finished
My worlds covered in snow.

I won’t long for springtime
Just days short and dim
And wrap me winter
…and a life… without him.
