Long years from now, perhaps
on a sunny summer afternoon
with family gathered all about
they’ll see me sitting apart
staring into space and smiling
and they’ll wonder, some will ask,
what I’m thinking about, what’s creating
the serene look on my face.
But I won’t be able to tell them
about you, and what we were,
nor will I be able to tell them
that though the pain was deep,
the memories are oh so sweet
for you gave me the gift of love,
and I thank you for the lovely memories
that will soften the final years.
Dear readers, this is my third book of poems, and inside are a special collection of what have turned out to be not only MY personal favorites, but also the favorites of many of YOU. Some of these have never been available in print before...
I love how your poems flow - serenely and exceptionally . . . all so finely penned!!
LOve & hugs,
Lance
