Sitting silently I watch
the fog drift by my window
and hear the surf pounding onshore.
It’s a night for gazing into the fire
and idling the time away.
My book, face down on the table,
tempting me not quite enough.
One of your favorite compositions
plays softly in the background
and suddenly I hear you.
Your steps upon the sand are hesitant
and as faint as a bird’s breath
but heard and recognized.
Through the haze
I see you pause,
gaze towards my window,
hesitate, and then disappear.
Hastening to call you back
I find no footprints
in the soft cold sand.
I love reading this poem.it has a sweet and tender touch to it.Reading your poetry is like drinking herbal tea with a peppermint or chamonline flavor to it. It pours into my eyes and straight to my soul with a gentle flow :-).I enjoy reading your poetry, take care
It seems this apparition is a most desired one ... a dreamlike quality to this piece ... a haunted lover pining away on a lonely evening ... wishing, hoping. Loved it! Best, Elizabeth
You write the softest, most gentle verse, Marcia. Reading your poems is like feeling hearth and heart all rolled into one. Do not ever stop for we need more of this feeling in our CNN world :-)
One put a book face down as the thoughts invade whatever part of us are busy reading, and we surrender, and the imagination take us to places only known by us...
Bittersweet? perhaps, but more a dive inside deep reflections.
In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
