I had a little run-in
With a jealous type for sure
He couldn’t stand the fact
That I could spill allure

That gave him cause you see
To attempt to gain control
Of the woman he saw me as
To try my very soul

But true to my convictions
I stood my ground complete
And let him think his victory
Awaited him with speed

And then I dropped the news--
My exit was today
No more minutes arguing
No more pleas to stay

And smiling to myself
I watched him call with fervor
I ignored the ringing cell
And his voicemails’ murmur

Instead I typed him text
To inform him of my choice
And congratulated myself
In this here little verse

For staying true to me
And getting rid of him!

Jealousy’s not my style
It dims my beauty within...

The lesson in this tale
That's truly worth a share
Is appreciation of self will
Cause 'jealous' to despair--

And wish they could control
These destructive urges!
They somehow seem so silly
Once the liaison purges...

And they regret harsh words
Charges that are baseless
They realize insecurity
Has reared its ugly faces...

And many of them return
Back to reason sure
Glad to retrieve their beloved
Away from jealousy’s lure.
