Painting by Jeanette Cooper
My son lives on wooded acreage, and the deer walk right past his door. Hunting season has lost its purpose for him because he thinks they should be left to roam the woods.

Poem Artwork

The Fawn

Isn’t this gorgeous, this sweet little fawn,
Bathed in a circle of light
Where green grass and wild brush grow
And day turns quietly to night.

Isn’t it sweet and gentle, so delicate and so small
Taking a break from a tiring day
Glancing o’er its shoulder to mother’s call
To come join her in romping play.

A baby fawn less than a year old
Put on earth to survive and grow
To enjoy rainbows and sunsets
IF it can avoid some hunter’s bow.

Makes you really wonder
Who is the author of good and bad?
I guess the food chain gives us rights
But I can tell you, it makes me sad.

One who feels the sadness and reality of Nature and wildlife is one who knows the circle of life...it is a sad view and yet it also is beauty within the soul...

This poem is so sweet, just like you. Your painting is breathtaking too. I love deer, growing up in the country, we'd see deer everyday, they would come into the apple orchard and feed their young. My parents took many pictures of these beautiful animals. Many times the deer would look right into our windows!!
Thanks for this memory.
Hugs, Laura

What a wonderful painting! I understand not wanting to kill. It's so sad what our world has become. Holly

Can't imagine shooting a beautiful deer unless it was for survival in the wild.

It often makes me very sad, too, Jeanette. And that is a lovely painting of a most gentle creature. I have many deer near my home, as well, and I love watching the tiny ones interacting with their mothers.

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
