Knowledge: Building Blocks
There was a shiftless time in my younger days when
People’s tales, stories, opinions and expositions
Bored me, made me antsy to be busy at “real” things.
So I tuned them out with the voice of my own thoughts,
Gleaning from the internal world instead of the outer.
Then I grew up, grew older, became minutely wise,
Realized the eternal beauty of knowledge is its nourishment of life
That finds its source through the receptacle of people’s minds
Creating the foundation of what each of us are and become.
Knowledge is the firm base footing beneath us,
Synonymous to a high-powered industrial magnet
Constantly drawing new knowledge into our mental warehouse,
Setting it on our foundation like building blocks in continual expansion
Of mental scholarship that is nothing less than miraculous.
Through the creation of building blocks from new acquisitions and discoveries
Old ideas are renewed with theory, principles, perceptions
Adding to an individual’s great storehouse of billions of ideas
Comprising the greatest miracle and revelation known to mankind;
In effect, virtual learning.
Thus, folks from many different occupations and lifestyles,
Become carpenters in the acquiring of those building blocks
By assessing knowledge they will put to use in their life work and endeavors
From studies and gainful interest in all elements of their environment.
It is my lifetime goal to never stop learning
To absorb all that I can from people, nature, the sky and earth
For who knows, what I learn in this life may very well
Fly with my spirit to an unknown benefactor in a later life
If such does exist……

I think that knowledge is nothing if all the things we know are not part of a coherent structure and a strong personality. Sterile erudition that isn't filtered by one's conscience and emotional intelligence is pretty useless, from what I've seen around.
It's nice that you have shared your thoughts here.

Fly with my spirit to an unknown benefactor in a later life..." I love these lines...and "If such does exist..." I think so. Beautiful thoughts well penned.
