The Essence of Life
A warm soft blanket against your skin
A deep sleep furnished by pleasant dreams without strife
A spouse you love and adore by your side
Waking to the sweet sounds of busy morning life.
The sound of the old coffee pot perking noisily
Sending aromatic smells drifting to your nose
The scent of scrambled eggs and bacon sizzling
Whetting your appetite to sample all of those.
The children scrambling with cheerful glee
Getting dressed for school and a busy day
Gathering up their books and homework
Grabbing a quick bite of breakfast on their way.
A day of bright sunlight lit like life’s own hope
A job that pays a decent salary every week
A home cozy and warm and filled with love
A family that fulfills all anyone can ever seek.
A God in heaven answering every prayer
When illness or problems come your way
The blessings of security and safety in your life
The joy and eagerness for tomorrow,
Another wonderful day.

The difference in the nature of our lives is pausing to note and appreciate--as you have in this insightful poem--just how big little things are.
Many times we see life as time filled only with problems and stresses. Your poem "The Essence of Life" helps us to understand the meaning of the familiar phrase: "Can't see the forest for the trees."
Thank you for sharing with us the sensitivity and sharp focus of your awareness.
