Feeding The Pain

This was written before I came to terms with my eating disorder as well as the circumstance that created it...still holding on...doing great, one day at a time.

Feeding The Pain

My life once full and complete...

left with a gapping hole.

Once Joy and happiness...

I felt within in my soul.

With peace and contentment I awoke each new day,

Now a dread descends my heart,

as I rise to greet the day.

Emotions hidden...down deep...

Silent each one...as I too must keep.

Searching high and low...

somewhere...these feelings must go!

Looking for comfort,

but none can I find.

I feed the anger, insecure when no one else is around.

Knowing that I shouldn't... control I can't gain.

pain and hurt...they linger still,

down deep in the depths of my soul...I cannot kill.

I try...I can't let go!

My mind overwhelmed...

for hurt and lonliness linger...

and continue abound.

Questioning why?

What did I do, I silently cry...

Did I do something wrong, or did your feelings change?

Or am I the one to blame...

Questions remain unanswered...even still today

A secret they remain...

just as this gapping hole...I feed it daily,

for my hurt I must sustain.

Inspiring for others that have the same problems I know I did at one time... This is courageous and well expressed Joyce and praise God you got the victory.... When we love ourselves we can give love to others.

This is something that I can all so relate to in so many ways with the drinking-eating and excessive partying. I was addicted to alcohol and it gave me such a great feeling. All I ever wanted was love but I had to love myself and now that perfect love has come along and he makes me so happy especially at the times of my life right at the present with the court date tomorrow. Your work is so impressive.

This was the perfect title, and I think we all tend to feed our pain for years and almost feel safe as the victim- as a former anorexic, I can relate to this, and it is strong of you to share this sensitive subject in your life so others can learn from it.

This is one example of using the past as an eye opener but not falling in the trap of doing the same mistake. We are meant to live one day at a time. Keep it up and remember: you never walk alone, no matter what we write in our poems :-) Victor

Eating disorder can be deadly.

Sometimes it does change a person's mood
and his/her outlook in life with
everything that is around that person;
as the help from loved ones failed
the person would go deeper and deeper
into the abyss of that dark feeling
that surrounds him/her.

Mostly it is the person who is having
the eating disorder has changed.

A very thought-provoking write, Joyce!
