A slow walk does mind, body and soul some good. I wrote this thinking about the summer strolls my husband and I take from time to time......
A Quiet Place.....
Went for a walk along a dirt road,
kicking pebbles as I went along.
After a while I could see in the distance,
trees surrounding a lake peaceful and strong.
Continued walking closer to the lake,
looking around for a quiet place.
Too many problems, nerves on edge,
slow down, relax, unwind, not race.
A spot to sit under a willow tree,
lean back, relax enjoy the day.
A gentle breeze passing overhead,
lost, but will I find my way?
Opaque clouds all sizes and shapes
slowly, silently floating above.
If I open my eyes what will I see,
a horseshoe, seashell, maybe a dove.
Slapping bouncing rocks in its way,
sound of water not moving fast.
Air smells so clean, pure, untouched,
a pebble over the water I cast.
Lean over to see all the wet stones,
reach in, feels cool, refreshing to touch.
Opening my eyes, must have been a dream,
surely I did not sleep too much.
You drew me along on this walk, I could see the clouds hear the water slapping against the rocks, both outside and in, you showed me why one needs to sometimes just slow down a bit and find a quiet place. Great poetry as always

Very tranquil. I found myself becoming lost in your imagery...sigh, I guess we all need that moment in our lives.
I totally agree with with this poem Karen sometime we must slow down in this every changing world, and remember the silent, quiet, places within and you are really blest, you can share those places with your husband. Thank you for those reflective kind comments you make concerning my poetry. Peace!!! And may you keep receiving the vision from above.
I love long strolls just ambling along, enjoying nature. There's nothing better for quieting a restless spirit and clearing the cobwebs from the brain. You've written about it beautifully. I could feel the cool refreshing water on my hands as I read those lines. Elizabeth

As you read this poem, you can feel and experience the intimate details of nature. This is much needed in today's fast paced society.
