                  Sagacity of Peace

Sometimes the mind gets mighty full,
need a quiet place, change the frame of mind.
A walk in the park, surrounded by birds,
trees, deer, squirrels, rabbits, in kind.

A solitary being melding with nature,
an opportunity to stop, begin anew.
Steady saturation can be so overwhelming,
high above the trees a blue bird flew.

Wings spread wide, gliding with grace,
swirling up, down, in an ancient dance.
Colors glistening against a vast blue sky,
before moving on, just one more glance.

The ground is hot from relentless sunshine,
grass feels cool and so soft to the touch.
Stop to watch an ant brigade carrying leaves,
a continuous line never stopping much.

This journey continues, the ground softer,
an impending silence grows more persuasive.
Walking on footprints imprinted long ago,
an awe-inspiring presence seems invasive.

Stopping at the sight of a vast blue ocean,
where all life once began, where some end.
Hearing the gentle ripples brush against sand,
brings a sagacity of peace that will never bend.

Sky, ocean, land, all separate, yet intertwined,
as one concludes, the next one commences.
Is this what God envisioned when he began,
to engulf our being and tantalize our senses.

Teaching all of us humility as we are the same,
while observing fiddler crabs scampering by.
Pelicans flying high, then diving for food,
appearing full of life against a blue sky.

Heart no longer heavy, mind much clearer,
soul is more illuminating than ever before.
Searching for a quiet place to contemplate,
along this peaceful path by the shore.

Sometimes the mind gets mighty full,
need a quiet place, change the frame of mind.
A walk in the park, surrounded by birds,
trees, deer, squirrels, rabbits, in kind.

You take us on such a vivid journey here, Karen, and it is a complete delight - I was sad for it to end! You have given us so many points of detail, so many things with which to unwind and relax the mind as we absorb ourselves in the natural world around us. A tonic for certain sure, inbuing the spirit with a sense of ease and well-being. I have never been so peaceful or felt so at one with the world as I do now, being in the very fortunate position of living adjacent to open heathland and hills that are bounded by rivers, the world's 2nd/3rd biggest natural harbour and the sea. I can so relate to the mood and serenity of this lovely poem. Thank you. xx

Such inspiring rhymes set to nature's song of peace. I always love how you incorporate nature's themes in your poetry. It's a pleasure to read you again and again, Karen. And Robert's photography adds so much to your poetry, in this Sagacity of Peace especially...I see where two roads fork and also a circle around the tree, as such in the Wheel of Life...be well.

Love,
Sage
