Poema VII

LAS MANOS DE BUCHA

.

Las manos de Bucha

Las manos abiertas

orando al cielo;

Las manos que duermen

luego del paseo del demonio,

se guardan un poco de tierra

en la palma de las manos

para que todo el mundo sepa

que son las manos de Bucha.

..

Las manos quedaban así,

hasta un mes entero esperaron

en las calles frías

a que vinieran las hermanas manos

a darles cobijo

en la tenue y cálida

tierra que las vió nacer.

.

Allá abajo, al Sur

se ha ido el diablo

en retirada,

matando otras manos por doquier,

demoliendo las obras

que todos juntos hicimos

en nuestro hermoso lugar,

en nuestra ucraniana forma

de ver el mundo

y sentir a Dios.

.

En Bucha los túmulos

son el paisaje

ordenado por el monstruo

de Moscú.

Nadie habla

entre los escombros.

Nadie sueña o respira.

Sólo las manos se animan

a permanecer expectantes:

Afloran despacio

y quedan

en la colina sin nombre

esperando;

.

Porque las manos saben

que vendrá la gloria,

templada en el dolor y la victoria,

de un mar de manos fraternas

que devolverá la belleza

de una ucraniana manera

de construir el mundo

de sentir la paz

en libertad

de Dios.

.

Poem VII

THE HANDS OF BUCHA

.

The hands of Bucha

The open hands

praying to heaven;

The hands that sleep

after the demon’s walk,

keep a little bit of earth

in the palm of their hands

so that the whole world knows

that they are the hands of Bucha.

.

The hands remained like this,

for a whole month they waited

in the cold streets

for the sister hands to come

to give them shelter

in the dim and warm

land where they were born.

.

Down there, to the south

the devil has gone

in retreat,

killing other hands everywhere,

demolishing the works

that we all together did

in our beautiful place,

in our Ukrainian way

of seeing the world

and feel God.

.

In Bucha the burial mounds

are the landscape

ordered by the monster

of Moscow.

No one speaks

among the rubble.

No one dreams or breathes.

Only hands are encouraged

to remain expectant:

They emerge slowly

and remain

on the nameless hill

waiting;

.

Because the hands know

That glory will come,

tempered in pain and victory,

from a sea of fraternal hands

that will bring back the beauty

of a Ukrainian way

of building the world

of feeling the peace

in freedom

of God.

.

Thank you Ron for your kindness in commenting on the reading of my poem. Since February 24 when the invasion began, without notice of hostilities or declaration of war (reminds me of Pearl Harbour), I am from that day on just keeping an eye on this war. I have a work that I like very much: Daily Poem, for my Youtube channel, but is in Spanish, I don't dare to recite it in English... without the help of Google haha. I have it suspended until the Ukrainian war is over and the Ukrainian people, that I met, are free from the Russian tyrant. My books are all over the Net, on Amazon and Apple Bookstore, but I can send you a bilingual selection in *.PDF if you like the idea, of the parts I have translated. I will see your poetic and narrative works, I have seen your great activity in spite of your health problem. God bless you. Best regards from Yecla, Murcia, Spain. ClaudioSerraBrun

Thank you for the translation. The poem is a prediction that every day now, is coming true. The people of Ukraine, with so many dying from that "monster" from Russia dealing with stupid heavy hand has only brought agony on his own people as he forces them to invade a people who will eventually throw off this ungodly incursion into their peaceful and productive lives.

And so it will be again. The only great loss so many resources wasted in so many people from both sides dead for no other reason than evil. But doesn't evil know that it never wins?

Ron
