Poem Artwork

He left me there,by the lake
hearing the loons mournful cry
added to my wake
and my tears would not fall
instead my head would ache
and my stomach crawl
with intense despair
for he was no longer here
and my throat was dry
 i could not swallow
all i could do was sit and wallow
in abject misery  having lost
what mattered to me most
my love and all I thought was good
now i'm like battered driftwood
alone unable to cry,  shattered
dry and bereft, because he left...

Eileen, you have such a way to use a picture to enhance your poetry.
And top it off with music as I read.
'Now I'm like battered driftwood. . .'
What an emotional closing line!

This loss is something [I think] we've all had at one time or another in our lives. Thank God for healing. It is essential to our well-being.

Leaving is a void when we spend valuable time with people we take into our hearts. There never is a solcae for this pain. Your poem is hurting and I wish I could say something to help.

Eileen, you've capture a picture of consumed darkness and pain along the shoreline of hurt. I love the metaphors, the images, the voice that brought this poem to life. This is just a great writing.

You know Eileen, I especially appreciate this poem because you don't gloss over the real words...you know what I mean...pretty poetry. We love to write it and read it, but when reality and the pain of loss smacks, it's hard to be anything but human and compelling and really, really real. I know what it's like to feel that loss, that ache of "battered driftwood" be it forever or only until the next time. You write that pain perfectly....and I can hear it.
Love, Taylor
