Leaving behind the polluted air
I breathe with ease in a place where
It's forest between mountains and ocean
My mind becomes receptive with devotion
Soon I'm aware of being surrounded
The shadows of many trees speak to me
I'm impressed by their wisdom and audacity

Images quickly flash across my mind
Arguements,war,violence of every kind
Since America was discovered, war and strife
And all  rebellion is part of our daily life
Winds whispering in trees make me pause
I listen hoping perhaps they know the cause
Except for humanity, all observes God's laws

The message I'm sure we already knew
Only humanity does what IT wants to do
Our excuses are futile,we use them every day
Everyone wants to live life, their own way
That's fine if you're satisfied with what's had
We all take credit for the good, never the bad
Constant whining makes the Universe sad

The Universe is truly quite ill
We the people become its fossil

I love this poem. The message about how mankind is poisoning the earth is like exactly the message I want to get out. Great poem the wood is like the earth should be, healthy but instead it is ill. Very haunting poem.

We are deaf and blind... particularly to what our natural self, the intrinsic one, tells us and shows us every day, every moment. We step away from oneness, we loose awareness of our place, our relevance within the universe. Yes, dear Eileen... we "fossilize" ourselves deliberately. Why is it easier?

This poem is a glaring truth shimmering through the sinking eyes of mother nature or it is a drop of logic drizzling from its sapped breasts but falling on the logic-proof minds of mankind. GBQ

I sadly believe that the universe is extremely ill right now, and that we humans are definitely to blame. If only we had the wisdom of those trees.

And my brother's comment was very mean - Rufuz would never say that.

This poem reminded me of a quote...
'May you find
tongues in trees
books in brooks
and prayers in stone'

What a wonderful artistry work!

You hit the nail on the head Dear Eileen. You are a shining star of peace and understanding.

Tiger,

Bittersweet. I absolutely loved the last line with the mixed "We the people" (Constitution - the harbinger for civility in the west) and the notion of becoming fossilized. Perhaps the answers we seek are not those buried in the earth - they are swimming in the synapses of those who stride upon it in wanton ignorance.

Eileen, sad is the truth about man...but how consoling is nature and to savour her -- especially, trees -- is often reaason for living.

Excellent!
Thank you and love to you!
Btw, your bio image is beautiful!

From the air we breath to the waters that are life...it's all going downhill. If we all take a moment when we rise in the morning and think about how the coming day might benefit our environment and then act upon it...there's a chance we can turn things around.

Profound message here, Lady M and again inspiring words. Think I mentioned to you before that as a child I often wondered what tales trees could offer - there is an oak in Sherwood that they say is over 200 years old - now what history has passed under its branches I wonder?....and what we could learn if we were only open to hear. Thinking about it, should I wonder why they call them 'Weeping Willows'? You took me on a journey here...thank you. Love Imp:)x

I'm not a talker or a listener of trees, although it would probably be in my best intrest to do do. I do agree, however, that whining is what made the willow weep . . .

The universe is certainly ill. Thank God for His mercy and love!

We should be more like the rest of God's creation -- observe God's law ----- Amen.

Eileen,

Thought provoking; man seems determined to become extinct while ruining the Earth -- God's gift to us -- and wiping out the rest of its creatures. Well done.
