Now that I've written it down and see what

Bloody mind games.. Happens all the time.

A most profound piece of exactly what does go on in the spectrum of life. I sometimes find it is the predictability of it all that causes some to move on. At that point there is no more give and take as in sharing it becomes as you say a chess game of winner takes all....

too bad relationships can't be calculated like a chess game ... we could predetermine our next move ... then, the best to be achieved is a stalemate and a new game can begin ... enjoyed the strategy of this well written poem ...

I can't relate, I'm a charge toward the prize kinda giy, but I know what you speak of. You poetic skills were put to the test here, and actually you would up with a piece of interesting prose . . . Wouldn't it be funner'n hell if you were REALLY speaking of a chess game and everybody fell for it . . . Gotta love it!!!!!

Ahh yes... the chess game. Some love it, though, don't they... the exercise of all that mental energy and intellectual gymnastics? But this is a different sort of relationship to the one of wholesale abuse which is intentionally or inadvertently set to harm those on the receiving end. And other stalemates are as others have commented below... perhaps just a case of non-compatible energies, force fields that all at once attract, repel and generally confuse however much the two parties might wish it were not so... Me and my tutor used to have a quasi-relationship this way which made my academic year interesting, to say the least. Happily we laughed about the muddles we got in and remain concerted in our understanding that we repeatedly misunderstood! :)) Sadness, though in each type, though, perhaps. Unless the game is evenhanded and obvious as to what's intended to be going on. Now I've muddled myself and complicated my own moves, I'll bid you adieu until another game! Take care, love Kate xx

Puzzling encapsulation of the logistics of relationships. There are those who use their deceptive ways to lure you as a pawn in their game. Truth is the only thing that will set one free - so - if it's not Truth, then end it - get up from the bard's table and walk away. Another definition of chess - annual grass native to the Old World and troublesome as a weed in wheatfields - a new game awaits in the beauty of the fall wheatfields, Eileen...

This is a game that ends in a stale mate,,with no winners,,,quite sad really,,,But the reality is people play with anothers mind,,, I am glad you are one step ahead. Awesome write.

Oh, the chess game, yes, it seems that it is more prevalent in the over 50 aged men, sorry guys, I have been in the dating world since I turned 48 and the 50 and over are the ones that do this. In my experience. I prefer to date younger men, 43--48 zone. Oh well, what are you going to do..Just capture their nights...lol
