Thoughts after a Christmas get-together
last night

~^~

Hidden beneath the glitter

Light prisms scatter

through fractured feelings

like pieces of diamonds

hard cold unbreakable

so beautiful in appearance

so detached in reality

from subtle conversations

ruby red bits of lip caught

on wine glasses of tired talk

as paltry excuses and

glimmering shards of

blue bottle memory

shine on opaque eyelids

staring into myriads of

 wounded nights of waiting

in crystal caves of lost love

shaved by blades of lies

caught in the indigo  streams

of twilights shaded meaning

ET~

Okay, I give up. I loved this one so much I am going to go post my own post-Christmas poem. You have inspired me. Love the poem. Peace and blessings and my humble thanks for your words.

Excellent capture Eileen, sometimes when holiday parties and punch get together, a whole bunch of disapointments and loneliness just comes spilling out...

Just amazing what happens when people get together, sometimes it can be colder inside than outside, wisely expressed....

Eileen, the images brought about many imaginations to mind, while drinking & socializing we often see people in a new light and sometimes the light darkens. An excellent write!

Golli, Eileen. Next time join one of our parties. No shaded meanings there, just lots of bull...
LOL
Nice write, though. You expressed the depth very well.

hmm, need a little lift in the conversation at the party. some poetic laughter and inclusion of a wee bit of naughtyness and dancing brings forth the life to dull parties. hope your New Years is much better.

always,

Eileen,

Spot on! All dressed up, with no place to go...that's what came to mind, people putting on a false front, underneath the pretty packaging and bows. Excellent.

Sounds like so many Christmas parties where folks are more worried about making a lasting impression instead of a lasting friendship. Well written ET. Merry Christmas my friend.

Fragments that make up the whole.
Weird, I skipped Christmas parties from work, so superficial.
Verywell written

Whatever Richard said I do too . . . LOL . . . These cryptic appearing verses are actually the glue which, applied directly to the verses, give it continuity and believability . . . Its message of frivolous fortune is alive and kicking . . . Great write . . .

I like the structure of this poem -- never a complete sentence, yet replete with complete thoughts. Some great phrases here:
"blue bottle memory"
"shaved by blades of lies"
Really enjoyed it.

Delightful imagery and insights. There are times when a poets ability to see through social veneer, and deep into the membranes of inter-personal situations that allows the mind to reconstruct the simplicity of any given event and make it something extraordinary with the pen.
Blessings and Love ...
