                  Daddy's Footsteps

There it is, I hear the sound,
The sounds I've heard before.
Yes I think it is my daddy,
He's coming through the door.
 
I'm oh so happy to see him,
I run with arms open wide.
I know I am safe in his company,
He's strong, he is my guide.

The sounds that are so comforting,
The ones we've grown to know.
Like breathing in fresh air,
A voice we'll always know.

The things some take for granted,
Like the footsteps at the door.
The familiar steps of daddy's feet,
As he greets me across the floor.

Even if I cannot see that far,
My ears will not lie to me.
They'll help me know the footsteps,
That belong to my Daddy.
