My little 3 year old granddaughter just broke her leg and I will hear her scream for a long time. If there was some way we could just take their pain away.
We Can't Take The Pain Away
How can we protect them now, from the pain that they will know. Just from playing everyday, the innocent of where they go. They don't seem to understand, when we say that's enough. We're so afraid they'll hurt themselves, because they play so rough. A broken bone can mend itself, But the tears they cry, hurt us so. We want to take away the pain, But how! we just don't know. So tiny and so afraid, We can't take the pain away. We can only try to comfort them, Each and every day.
Thank God I'm not the only one that gets concerned when they horseplay. I thought I was becoming old and grouchy. If I could take away their pains I would but I don't want to say,"I told you so either." All I can do is try my best to explain my concerns.
This is so true and any parent or grandparent will know instatly what you are talking about, if pain were transferrable as parents and grandparents we would be hurting an awful lot though. Great poem Rose.
