That Creature Eight Foot Tall

I grew up in a family of eight children and there wasn't too much money floating around, but we always knew how to have fun. One of my brother's was born on Halloween night and he seemed to be planning his fun all through the year. There was one time when he really did scare me and I thought for sure I was going to die, but he got the worst of it when my mom heard me screaming. I can laugh at it today.

That Creature Eight Foot Tall

It was headed down the hallway,
In hopes no one else would see,
The way it held it's strength and swayed,
For this creature frightened me.

It made those deathly strange noises,
Frightening sounds all through the night,
As though it held on to another,
In it clawed clutches, really tight.

I only saw the shadow pass,
A giant stood eight foot tall,
Swaying slowly with it's strength,
As it headed down the long dark hall.

I closed my eyes, I couldn't scream
For fear that it would hear me,
So I hid beneath my blankets still,
In hopes this creature wouldn't see.

Soon it entered my dark filled room,
Gosh what am I to do, now I'm all alone,
He pranced his weight upon my bed,
Screaming, Sister now I'm Home.

I looked up and there he was,
That brother dear of mine,
I could have killed him that night,
But I'll get even within time.

This is a cute piece, certainly brings back the memories of Gerald when he was in his devilish moods, and that was often. Did we ever get even with him at all? Love & hugs

Cute write; thanks for the memory jog, Rose! Well done!

LOL at Karla's comments below about our brother Kenny and how he'd catch it from mom when we tattled on him! O, what fun times those were! LOL

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D

What memories, Rose! My brother used to scare the liver out of me, and like you, he'd get it when I'd wail like a tornado siren...thanks for reminding me and giving me a chuckle: I can identify! Well done!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

It is funny how some of our worst childhood experiences often become our best adult memories. Each family have their own unique stories it seems for each member of the family. My own claim to fame as a child was to get my head stuck at the young age of four between two rungs of the old kitchen chairs we had back then. With Mom and Dad away when I saw our neighbour coming towards me with a saw and my brother said they had to cut my head off...that did it for me...I screamed until the wrung finally came out. LOL
