One day they are just little toddlers, running around and how you pray for just a little time alone, but soon you turn around and they are gone, gone to their own corners of the world, to make a new life of their own. Now you wish to go back in time but it's too late for yesterday is gone and today is almost over and you only have tomorrow to look forward to. except what they have to offer you now before it is too late.

The Feeling Of Empty Nest

Just little wee one's,
Running around wild and free,
Soon they will grow into adults,
Leaving the feeling of empty nest for me.
Today I pray for the quietness,
For just a moment or two,
Not wishing their lives away,
As thought of  by so few.

You walk into their room,
So empty now that they've gone,
You sit on their bed and wonder,
I hope I haven't done them wrong.
They need space, now that they've grown,
They have to leave their home,
The life that they've known so long
,
To start a new life of their own.

The tears begin to flow quickly,
As you think back through the years,
You see their tiny faces,
And how their little faces once did glow.
Then you come back in time,
Inside you got the feeling of empty nest,
Knowing you can't turn back time,
Hope for them you've always done your best.

Yes sis, we all go through it in our lives. When they are little, we complain they are always under our feet but once they are gone, we miss them terribly. YOur words bring back memories and touches my heart. Love & hugs

They do grow up so very quickly, Rose. Well-expressed sentiments to which I can relate. Love and peace to you,

Regis

I'm beginning to have that empty nest feeling as well Rose. My oldest is moving out this summer, and my second oldest will be going away to College this fall. I will only have one left at home.
Where does the time go? And I've had those feelings too, if I could have a minute to myself...
Great write.
Hugs, Laura

Very well stated and applies to Dads and Moms alike, childhood is the blink of an eye and gone. I doubt though with your big heart there is any chance that they will think you could have done anything but the best.

Hugs,
Your Cuz
