We Gather Round The Table

Every Saturday morning we have a family breakfast at 8 o'clock am. not a minute later. The children and the grandchildren join us as we gather around the table, looking forward to the feast that nanny prepares. We are always inviting others to join us, because we feel the more the merrier. Once you sit at our table and eat breakfast with us you are automatically counted as part of our family.

We Gather Round The Table

We gathered round the table,
As we do each week this time,
And enjoy the foods prepared for us,
There's so many different kinds.
Nanny makes  pancakes, French
toast,
Bacon, ham, sausages and so much more,
We eat until our bellies are full,
And can't get out their door.
She fills us up on milk and juice,
Fruit bowls, yogurt and cream,
Just gathered round her table,
Looks like we're in a dream.
Next week at the same time,
They'll greet us as we come in,
She'll wait for us to be seated,
Then breakfast time again begins.
One day when we are all grown,
This memory we will share,
As we gather round our table,
With our loved ones who care.
But for now we'll eat at nanny's,
Cause it pleases us so,
We'll one day share this memory,
With our loved ones so they'll know.

This is such a wonderful custom and brings back such sweet memories of my own upbringing in a large family of nine kids when Saturday and Sunday was always the one time we came together as a family. Your children and grandchildren will truly cherish these breakfast memories for a lifetime and perhaps this write will encourage more out there to find ways to bring their own families closer together more often.
hugs
