When I was just a little child,
Playing on the swing alone,
Waiting for a special person to share,
Where were you, when I was all alone?

When I walked home from school,
Through the raging storm,
Afraid that I'd get hurt along the way,
Where were you, were you at home?

Where were you, when I needed a friend,
Someone to tell all my fears to,
Where were you, through all the years,
When I thought my life was through?

When I grew up and made mistakes,
Were you out there doing the same,
Where were you, when I needed you,
When I saw life wasn't a game.

When I married, you weren't there,
I looked but I couldn't see,
That's when I realized you were missing,
You're a very important part of me.

A special person, a part of my life,
