We all make promises that we know we can't really keep forever, some may not seem too serious today but maybe tomorrow they can break a heart beyond repair. We teach our children that all will be well because mommy and daddy will make things alright but we can't do that all through their lives, one day they grow up and realize they are on their own to make the life they chose. Husbands and wives make promises to be together till death do they part, but guess again, how many broken hearts end in harsh divorces. Maybe we should always think before we make a promise and make sure it won't be one of the many broken promises made.
Broken Promises
Words spoken from the heart, Were they really meant to be, All too easy we slip them out, Those words of love and honesty. We say forever, without knowing, How long forever will really be, For simple promises made today, Are broken to often, too easily. Never a thought before our words, Not a piece of our heart put in, We look deep in the eyes of our love, With broken promises, what a sin. Today you are here and so full of life, Smiles to generously to give away, For the happiness given freely, Hasn't taken it's toll or gone astray. You say, I'll love you darling forever, I'll care for you until the end of time, I promise I'll be here till death do us part, If you promise to only be mine. Is death until the heart breaks into? Will it end when you've chosen to go? Will all the promises one day be broken, When you decide, to just up and go? All those words you spoke from your heart, Were they really meant to be? Because I couldn't stand broken promises, Not when you've made them to me.

Promises made with the best of intentions can often fall by the way side or get lost in time and space as too many pitfalls get in the way of past wants and needs. So few promises are able to be kept that when some are you know they are the ones that are special.
