You Don't Know About Lonely

I know that you were there,
Not just in my dreams but everyday,
I've come to depend on you now,
To be a part of my everyday.

You supply for me an energy,
Contentment and a loving smile,
You give me a day to look forward to,
And have I guess for quiet a while. 

I expect to speak to you daily,
I know I sound like a spoiled child,
But you have that way about you,
That widens my every smile.

You don't know about lonely,
Until you turn, to find you are alone,
When all seems dark and dreary,
And you feel by yourself  at home.

I look for that soothing face,
The words you so gently speak,
That sheepish look you give,
And that smile upon your cheek.

You don't know about lonely,
You're the one who's gone away,
I am the one who's left behind,
For another long lost day.
