Country Changes The Flow

Just got back from our trip to Nashville/ Memphis and we had a blast, took 698 pictures as my husband just shook his head. I couldn't get over how today's country music have changed over the years. I love Country music and I am sure the new performers of today will be great and I do enjoy it but I hate to see the old Country music die.

Country Changes The Flow

Felt deep within the heart,
The words of every Country song,
Seeing with the heart is believing,
Those that do belong.
The Grand ole Opry,
The magic that still lives,
The voices of the past and present,
Of all those there to give.
The Country Music’s resting,
At the Country Music Hall of Fame,
All the past entertainers,
Nothing remains the same.
Life will continue,
With the new singers of today,
As the oldies and the best,
Are left to fade away.
Old guitars and autographs,
Old pictures collecting dust,
The young ones are the entertainers,
New generations, making all the fuss.
Someone stole the old country music,
Down there on Music Row,
It must have been the recording studios,
From a long ,long time ago.
They’ve gone and changed our lyrics,
They’ve taken away our heart,
They’ve given Country music a new flow,
And tore the old flow all apart.
Nothing will remain the same,
As the years go slowly by,
The best performers have left us,
The new ones must give it their best try.

Rose,
I agree that country has changed, maybe it should have a different name. However, I've heard there are small, little known bands out there who still play the good ol' songs with fervor and heart. I guess we just need to find them and keep them going.

Cash & Nelson, or Kenny the gambler that won't fold, I will extend my self and include Roger Whittaker "the last farewell"...
The flow?...as old geezers like me still kicking around you will hear good lyrics and music yet.

Well said and as the new entertainers of today make their way, they too will be collecting dust, same as the old entertainers of yesterday and the family will continue to grow....

Be always safe,
Karen

Rose, the old ones voices like Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Carl Smith, Johnny Cash, The Carters, etc. are "no" longer heard in the Grand Ole Opry, but I do feel their spirit's alive and wanting to be heard once again as I visit there. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself & I hope you'll share some of your pictures. Good to have you back!

Very well said Rose. Sounds like you had one heck of a good old time. I'm glad for you both. That's what life is all about. God bless.

Ah, yes, Rose...the Country Music songs and vocalists of yester-year. There are a few today that are equal, but very few. Sounds like you had a great time! Thanks for sharing :o)

So very true Rose. We love the old songs and singers that have faded into the past. Their music stll lives on but is not played as much. Everything changes with time. The new singers have talent , but the sound of country music has definately changed.. Thanks for sharing....M

I agree wholeheartedly with FEE! You need to submit this poem for a song to be sung by a legend. But then, you wouldn't have time for the den anymore rolling around in your riches from this number 1 hit! Cheers, Deborah

Excellent poem about how the old must give way to the new, but sometimes it doesn't mean a change for the better,so we mourn the loss of what was and have to hope for what is to be.Glad to see you back Rose!;-)

Eileen

Well Rose I think you have summed it up [pretty well in this poem but I think it would also make a great song in itself, I can see Willie, or George Jones singing it in my mind. I love the oldies but there are still a few up and coming new singers who are keeping the legends alive. Good to see you posting again.

What a very true write - that pertains to a lot of things. Change is enivitable, but it is not always a bad thing. Its all in how one looks at it. Welcome back.

Today's country just ain't got the same soul as the old - there will never be another Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, George Jones, Dolly Parton - I like some of the new, but not many - still and all, Rose, glad you had a wonderful time in Nashville/Memphis!

(((HUGS))) and love, karla.

Never thought Country music would change or the old ballads of yesterday. But they live in our hearts forever.

I love country music, but excepting for a few exceptions, I fear for the future of country. The young guns are taking the heart and soul out of country, and it's too rock for my traditionalist-sensitive ears. Give me Loretta, Merle, Alan, George (Strait), George Jones, or Patty (Loveless) anyday; I don't need any "Rascal Flatts", Taylor Swift, or Shania Twain in MY life!! Very well penned; brava!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :)

Ah! How I love country music! Every song is a new journey of lifetimes and generations and always heartfelt....people always ask me "How come you're a black girl and you love country music?" and I'll say "Music chooses no race, if it's beautiful I love it and it loves me back" Thank goodness for my mother who always listened to Dolly, Jim Reeves, Ray Colins and all the other who paved the way....

I hope you write and publish many country songs Rose, your heart is in it and I know you can do it. Enjoyed the poem.
