A Message On The Phone

Yesterday I got a message about my Grandchildren and I couldn't wait to hear their little voices on the other end of the phone as I spoke to them tears trickled down my cheek. I sure do miss you.

A Message On The Phone

The phone rang so loud and clear,
Hello Nanny are you there,
A little voice so loud and clear,
Made me cry several tears.

I miss you Nanny do you hear me,
When will you be coming home.
Since you have left to go away,
Things aren't the same at home.

No one sings my forgetful song,
Or races cars with me,
No one plays with Barbies,
The same as with you and Poppy.

Grammy came to visit from Nova Scotia,
She loves to snuggle with us too,
But maybe we are greedy,
When we're still lonely for you.

Maybe you've become a part,
Of our life each and everyday,
Spending at least nine waking hours,
Just loving us in every way.

We know that you too need a break,
From cars, barbies and colouring books too,
But honest Nanny we know you miss us,
And you find  time from us long too.

There isn't a day we don't think of you,
We get sad then hide a tear,
We know you are doing the same,
When you think of us you love so dear.

Wow. I'll be able to see through the tears soon, I hope. Such sweet longing. I never had a grandparent, so being one is just wonderful. Great write. Oh, I don't think I am getting notified of your postings. I'll hit the tracking bar again. Liz

Such beautiful touching words from your grand-children...love shines through in every line. Your poem reminds me of a powerful emotional union between grand-children & grand-parents that "nothing" or "no" one could come between. A wonderful relationship that will seal memories of them in your mind forever. Beautiful!!

Oh Rose, if it were me I would find a way to move closer. Children are only children for such a short time as you already know. How deeply touching this is.......

Such a sweet and heartfelt write, nothing like grandchildren to melt our hearts...It's funny how I find myself allowing my granddaughters to get away with things that I would have never allowed my children to get away with...it's great! Enjoyed the write!

So cute, and I know they really do miss you and you miss them. I would love to sit down with my granddaughter and play Barbie's as we used to but she is 14 and way too old. Enjoyed the former fun days but looking forward to days ahead with her too. Actually have 9 grandchildren and one getting married in Washington D.C. Oct 3 09 so I must be there to see it of course. Can't wait.

The hearts of grandchildren never lie and only know the truth, they tell us what they really mean in their own special ways. You have captured that love and message so well in this loving write that I know Shelby and Freddie will look back on for years into the future.

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
