The Road Ahead
By: Rose and Fee
The wind whipping in the window
Of that rusted ’69 Chevelle
Muffled sobs by the dash light
Meatloaf singing Bat Out of Hell
They had to leave that little town
Under silent cover of the night
Their only choice to sneak away
Whether it was wrong or right
So she told him she was working late
He told her bowling with the guys
Just an overnight bag in the trunk
Just one more in a string of lies
Guilt soon began to take over
For the shame they’d have to bear
For a love they knew was forbidden
But they had so much love to share
He reached out in the darkness
Across the cold naugahyde divide
Took her little hand and kissed it sweet
And she forgot just why she cried
They had grown tired of feeling unwanted
At home a stone cold marriage bed
They’d break the vows made to the others
And embrace the open road of love ahead
She leaned into his welcome shoulder
Just as that big truck slid round the bend
But the last words she heard him whisper
Is I will love you to the end…
Love you
Selena
I Love It...the end is so very sad...
as is the cold marital bed...
Very Well Done!
Much Love & Inspiration Rose & Fee :)
