I go to Bingo once in a while to get out of the house. If folks can't afford to lose, they shouldn't go.

B-I-N-G-O
January 10,2010
By: Rose Marie Rideout

They’ll call another number,
I’ll quickly dot another square,
Someone will yell BINGO,
I’m set, but I don’t care.

Someone has won a thousand,
They must need it more then I,
I paid my dime and lost again,
Why should I sit and cry.

The Man up above is watching,
He knows who is in need, much more,
yet I see so many stomping,
Tossing cards down on the floor.

Maybe they should stay home,
And read a book instead,
Why spend money they don’t have,
Going home empty handed they dread.

It’s just a game, I say,
It’s nice to win once in a while,
But if you’re going to throw a tantrum,
BINGO is no place for an angry child.

This was fun-and you're right! I used to play BINGO in my twenties at a gorgeous little Catholic church in Beacon, NY, called St. Joachim's. I might sound odd, but I looked forward to the little snacks they served, the game itself and just the camraderie. I liked to win, obviously, but it wasn't really the point. Thanks for this, as it brought it all back to me in fine memories. I agree, God knows who needs it :) Blessings, Michelle

A very cute, very sad, very timely (for some people)very well written words for some that should never begin and for some that play and lose and know enough to quit.

ONCE UPON A TIME I ALWAYS WON. WHEN I STOPPED WINNING I QUIT. IT'S BEEN YEARS AND I NEVER ACT LIKE A CHILD. THIS IS A GOOD ONE FOR AN ANGRY CHILD.

Hey Rose, a good point for those who do not know how to say enough is enough. I once argued with a slot machine for over three hours, and I lost...

Cheers,
Dan

Far too many tantrums everywhere, these days. I'd rather stay home and sing B-I-N-G-O, to my dogs - they seem to like it:

There was a farmer had a dog,
And Bingo was his name-o.
B-I-N-G-O!
B-I-N-G-O!
B-I-N-G-O!
And Bingo was his name-o!

I never have got more murderous glares than that time when I came late to a Bingo game, purchased only one ticket, sat besides a punter with half a dozen tickets and feverish eyes. Few number after I cried BINGO! and wont the Jackpot! to the chagrin of everybody there. Took my prise and left with a devilish smile all over my face!

Rose,
You're going to win next time, I feel it in my bones. Good Luck!

Just a game, but still hurts when you don't win ... LOL! (As you can tell, I've never won.) One away from winning an all expense paid, two week cruise to Alaska: Karen STILL doesn't let me live THAT one down. LOL Well penned, Rose, the wisdom in these winning lines. :)

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Very well stated is this poem. It can also be used as a metaphor for life itself. Why waste time doing foolish things if you don't have the time nor the money. Good poem.

Absolutely true, however far too many people simply cannot resist the "chance" to improve their situation, no matter the cost. I've seen it sooooo many times. Well put, Rose. Thanks for sharing.

So true. I have gone to bingo three times won twice (beginner's luck, I suppose), and nearly won another time. LOL Don't go because gambling's not for me. :) Good message in this, Rose; well done!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D
