It's not easy to stand in front of strangers and share your soul with them. You have to have confidence and believe in yourself and your work.I am so lucky that Felix is partiscipating in it along with me, I often feel he is my strength.

Just a Few Minutes

Just a few minutes to speak
A few minutes to make them believe,
To believe in what I write
So my confidence Ican retrieve.

I look at the mic, there before me,
My hands began to shake, I sweat,
What if they don’t understand,
Will this be something I will regret.

I look at those who surround me,
A few familiar faces appear,
I smile although I’m nervous,
I can now speak without fear.

They are my friends and family,
They believe in what I write,
It’s time, I have to convince a panel,
To believe in the words that I write.

The mic seems so far from me,
As I slowly step up there to proudly say,
The answers to what I am asked,
From the judges along the way.

I feel lost in the unknown surroundings,
They are all here for the same thing as I,
Butterflies floating in my stomach,
A tremble of tears I can’t cry.

I blot out the people who are there,
I focuse on the words that I write,
I’m finished, they thank me, it’s over,
I’m proud I’ve done this tonight.

I'm right there with you, Rose. AND SO, SO ROOTING FOR YOU!! A vivid and compelling picture you paint for us here and my heart is in my throat, beating like fury! With Felix and smiling family and friends there to steady you, you'll just start to speak and find you love it, I'm sure... and that just a few minutes will in no way be enough, once you get going! You could also write a poem, and let your work speak for itself... Job done! :)) xx Bless you and congratulations in advance!

We will both be standing in front of that mic and yes it can be a daunting experience but to have the opportunity to speak of our work to others regardless of the outcomme is in itself a wonderful experience. See you at the mic on Sunday cuz....we can do it.
