Is his precious self
buried in that mysterious pit
in Oak Island? A place
where many lives were lost,
dangerously digging dirt,
deciphering messages
that ended in dark delusion.
Where is he,
when his body's here
and his mind's gone?
You may try to study
cryptozoology
to claim evidence
of life
within the boundaries
of his inflated self.
Maybe he's gone
to Lake Vida,
where life still exists
under nineteen meters of ice,
in very salty water,
sealed off,
with no light
and no air.
Here,
bacteria have embraced algae
for more than two thousand years.
Just like this primitive form of life,
once heated off,
he may spring back to life
(who knows?).
Or you may try ghosthunting
and call for the help
of a psychic who'll find out
who dwells inside his shell,
when he seems to be gone.
Meanwhile,
words go unheard,
presence, unfelt,
and he is the invisible
belly of the earth.
Once, someone saw
a crack on the surface
of such a cherished self;
frightening, endless depths,
eager, demanding void.
The gaping wound - abysmal -
draws his energy
and is full of surprises
that creep up on you
like jacks-in-the-box.
You hold his laughter in your hands and try to stuff it back through the cracks, but he will not hold it in--the cracks are everywhere--in his eyes, between his fingers--fingers that cannot even hold your own. And yet he breathes for other things you cannot see--a time, a place where values are so different from your own. And like the paper bag princess, you wish to climb inside his ear--to wake him with your roar. But there is no awakening this day. You search to find the back door to his heart. But it has prematurely caved in...
I have read few of her poems , each one makes to think about her deep insight into tragedy of life. I think she is superb and wish a much bigger recognition for her work

Superb evocation of the cold emptiness of so many spiritless intellects that exist without love or passion, yet yearn for the light (or the dark). The depth of your perception is extraordinary.
Andre is right, this is magnificent and loved ever line. The ability to look into the absess and then find the words to describe...wow. I also love the Oak Island reference as I live only an hour from the Island and have explored it often.
Lovely and sad at the same time.
